After pickup, the journey to Taiping takes a bit more than an hour from Ipoh. We first head to Kuala Sepetang, used to be called Port Weld, an important port for exporting mined tin extracts, it's now a laidback fishing village. You'll be able to see some great scenery on top of a bridge while listening various fishing boats going about with eagles soaring in the sky looking for prey.

Visit a factory that produces wood charcoal in a huge dome-shaped kiln shaped like an igloo. See how it was made and why we still produce it in this modern time! Then we head to a Malay chief's house turned fort to learn about the tragic story of a Sultan and the first British Resident of Malay State of Perak. Just a short drive away down the road, we take a look at those humungous incense made for the ceremonial purpose, usually during bigger festivals for the Chinese community.

We now head to Taiping downtown for lunch and after the meal, do a stroll at the famed Taiping Lake Gardens. It was the first public garden in Malaya and still reputed as the most beautiful garden in Malaysia. For the coffee lovers, this trip is a blessing as we stop by to the oldest coffee mill in Perak with free coffee tasting. Get to know the process of producing the local version of coffee that you find in the Malay Peninsular called "Hainanese Coffee" and learn what is the difference between this and your regular coffee.
